Principals Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

This is the first of my Principal Messages to be posted on our website.  I am going to make every effort to ensure that these messages are regular and informative.

On Friday 12th August I had the absolute pleasure of attending the Room 17 Assembly.  I was absolutely blown away by the singing and the messages conveyed about the importance of friendship.  It emphasised how we need to let our friends know how important they are to us.  This is something that we can all do and makes our world a much happier and less lonely place.  I was also extremely impressed with the fact that the class wrote and performed their own song.  This was the first time that I have seen this done at an Assembly and it was a delight to see and hear.  Thank you to Room 17 students and to Mrs Wotherspoon for the effort that went into the Assembly.  It was a wonderful start to everyone’s day and a lovely conclusion to the week.

On Wednesday 24th August we are holding our Parent Reporting Meeting evening.  This gives you the opportunity to have a 10 minute appointment with your child’s teacher to discuss any concerns that you may have.  The evening will start at 3.15 and will conclude at 6.00pm.  Please watch the school CONNECT parent space and check your child’s bag for information on booking.  If you are unable to attend on this evening but would still like to speak with your child’s teacher, then please contact them via email or phone to organise an alternative time.

We have just had delivered enough Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT’s) for each child to receive 20.  This will be really helpful in slowing down the spread of COVID in the community and within our school.  The parents of Kindy and Pre Primary Students will be given these RAT’s at pick up or drop off times.  Those parents who attend the parent reporting evening will be able to collect these directly from the teachers on the night.  Year 1-6 parents, if you wish to collect these earlier from the School Administration area they will be available from Wednesday 17th August.

We are still in the midst of high Covid infection rates both in our local community and our school itself.  We are trying very hard at school to decrease the spread of infection by observing good personal health practices such as use of hand sanitiser and regular hand washing.  Students of household close contacts can attend school.  We do ask though, that you RAT test children if there are family members who are positive.  Although mask wearing is not mandated, we do support those students and community members who choose to wear these and encourage staff to wear them as well.

Mrs Cook will be taking 5 weeks Long Service Leave commencing at the beginning of Week 6. Ms Liana Jedras will be coming in to take her classes. Ms Jedras is an art specialist and this will allow the art program to continue as normal.  We will really miss Mrs Cook but wish her a wonderful and well earned break.

Miss Jenkins has kindly offered to take on the coordination of the Student Leaders on a Thursday and will be developing their skills in regards to PBS.  I look forward to seeing great things from them in this time.

Have a safe and happy week.
